NARRATING AND VOICEOVER

My voice, your story
I’m Nigel Pate, a British, male, voiceover artist and narrator, based in Hertfordshire, UK.

From my home studio, I record professional-quality, English voiceovers for corporate video, e-learning, audiobooks and audio-guides.
My voice has a natural RP accent. Clear enunciation and seasoned tones convey credibility, understanding, reassurance, wisdom and authority.

Looking for the right voice to bring your story to life? Mine might very well meet your needs. Check out my demos below to find out!

What I offer
Vocal quality. British male, English language voiceover. My voice has a natural RP or southern English accent, with occasional traces of northern ‘warmth’, making it suitable for many situations requiring an ‘all-round’ British male voice. Its mellow, seasoned, at times quite gentle tones convey credibility, understanding, reassurance, wisdom and authority. It may or may not be the voice your project requires - only you can decide!
Vocal and storytelling proficiency. I make no claim to being an actor - I have no such training. What I promise is a thoughtful interpretation of your brief and delivery of your script, through a combination of clear enunciation and emotional expression (including changes in pace, volume, rhythm and emphasis etc). My aim is to ‘tell your story’ in a human and intelligent way that artificial intelligence, as yet, cannot.
High quality audio. Self-directed and recorded in my home studio with professional equipment (or directed remotely, or at an alternative London studio of your choosing). Carefully cleaned and edited to deliver a high quality finished audio file in your preferred format, ready for mixing by your own studio/engineer.
Professional and responsive service. You'll find me easy to work with. I listen carefully to understand your requirements and provide a clear quotation, tailored to those requirements. I take and respond well to your direction, asking questions to clarify where necessary. I want you to have full confidence in me and won’t rest until you are fully satisfied with the product.

A step-by-step guide
Securing my services as your voiceover artist or narrator couldn't be simpler. Each project is different, so what follows is certainly flexible, but may be a helpful guide:

-
Listen to one or two of my demos. Even if you're not yet sure, if you feel my voice might be right for your project, please get in touch. I will be very pleased to help however I can. In any case, I will let you know the same day whether or not I have availability to help.
-
Assuming I can help, I ask you for further information. Here’s a useful checklist:
-
Purpose: what you’re aiming to achieve
-
Importantly, where it will be seen, by whom and when, including:
-
How the voiceover will be used (e.g. audiobook, documentary narration, explainer video)
-
Audience: any other information about who they are, what their motivation is, what they’re looking for etc can be helpful
-
Where and when (geographical reach, duration of use)
-
-
Script - in its entirety or an indication of wordcount and a sample I can use to send you a voiceover sample
-
Indication of budget
-
Timescale required - deadlines, expected turnaround
-
Direction method (self-directed by me, remotely directed by you via Zoom etc; other studio)
-
Looking for further guidance? I would recommend fellow voiceover Anthony Hewson’s guide How to brief a voiceover artist effectively & efficiently.
-
3. Based on your brief, I send you (within 24 hours, usually faster):
-
A tailored quotation
-
A free audio sample
-
Proposed timeline (delivery dates etc) in line with your requirements
Should you wish to proceed, email me your instructions to go ahead and attach your final script (noting that changes after this point may involve re-recording and a further fee).

4. I start work, usually straightaway, with preparing, planning, practising and recording the read. I edit the recording to deliver a high-quality, finished audio file in your preferred format, ready for mixing by your own studio/engineer. I send you the finished file together with an invoice for the work.
5. If there is anything you are not completely happy with, let me know straightaway, so I can make whatever changes or re-records are needed. Once you are happy with the finished product, you complete the payment.
